Trentino at the Wine Pavilion

From the mountains to the excellence of the grapevine

1 May – 31 October 2015

The Wine Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, and specifically Trentino’s exhibition space, promises to offer an exciting, multi-sensorial experience exploring the secrets of wine in a sophisticated atmosphere. The futuristic Wine Pavilion becomes the ideal place to present the best of Trentino wine, the ultimate mountain wine.

Vino, a taste of Italy

Trentino: a small land that becomes an oenological continent. The variability of climatic conditions, soil, grapes and different production methods has made Trentino into a rich and complex area: from the banks of Lake Garda through the picturesque Valle dei Laghi, the Vallagarina and the Piana Rotaliana, the birthplace of Teroldego, to vineyards touching on the majestic Dolomites.

The vineyard, the source of product quality, is selected on the basis of the terrain and position: only in this way can it best express its characteristics in terms of aroma, flavour and personality.

The cultivation methods follow the principles of sustainability and low environmental impact: the vineyards are traditionally worked by hand and it was precisely in Trentino that the pergola system developed, guaranteeing suitable exposure of the vines to the sun even on sloping terrain.

The presence of Trentino at the Wine Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015 is headed by the Consorzio Vini del Trentino and by the Istituto Trento Doc. At Expo there are 56 labels from around 20 wineries: 16 white wines, 8 red wines and 32 TrentoDoc sparkling wines.

ad expo sono presenti 56 etichette di una ventina di cantinte: 16 vini bianchi, 8 vini rossi e 32 spumanti TrentoDoc.

The Consortium represents more than 90% of Trentino winemakers and growers, safeguarding Trentino’s designations of origin and the identity of its vines and wine products.
“Having a strong identity, recognised first of all by all producers, winemakers, bottlers and cooperative associations, means constructing the basis for effective and credible promotion of our production area, vines, wines and companies”.

From the wines, the attention turns to the traditional Spumante method: it is here that Expo Milano 2015 raises a glass of Trento Doc, the “mountain bubbly”.
Carefully selected basic grapes, exclusively from the Trentino area, secondary fermentation in the bottle and prolonged contact with yeast are the characteristics distinguishing Trentodoc Spumante made using the classic method from other sparkling wines. There are 41 Trentodoc producers, all highly qualified and selected, because to produce a special wine, the vine is not enough.
